Community Service Opportunities
Students are required to complete 100 hours of Community Service (25 hours per year of attendance) in order to graduate. All hours must be logged on x2VOL. Community service hours cannot be completed for monetary or other compensation, credit in your classes or for family members. Must be for a non-profit organization and can be completed for more than one organization. It's okay to start small, but start somewhere. The smallest bit of volunteering will make a big difference in the lives of others, animals and organizations in need.

Entering hours is a 3 part process:
1. Student enters hours (no more than 6 hours for any 1 "project")
2. Supervisor verifies hours were completed (will need to enter supervisor's email and phone number)
3. School approves hours
*any "project" that includes more than 6 hours will automatically be denied*
Below are some community service ideas:
- Taste of Tahiti (TOT) annual event will take place October 2025: TOT Volunteer Form
- Day out with Thomas annual event takes place November 2025: Day Out with Thomas Volunteer Form
- Become a Peer Scholar Tutor at NBECHS: visit Mrs. Torres in the library for an application!
- "Building the Bridge" MSMS Tutoring: contact Mr. David Childs at [email protected] to volunteer. MSMS is looking for students to Tutor in Math, or to help during MSMS Saturday School.
- Tutor at Valley View Elementary: students needed various days and times to help with homework and math/English and Enrichment rotations. Contact Ms. Jessica Hernandez at [email protected] for more information.
- LuvMichael.org is a non-profit organization that is spreading the word about Autism. Students can earn community service hours completely online! It provides a virtual volunteer program for students to learn about Autism, spread awareness and create meaningful work. Click here for more info
- Workin' Whiskers is an organization where students who are 17-18 years of age can earn community service hours working with cats at local rescues. Click here for more info
- ARE Animal Rescue assists with animal adoptions, play with animals, maintain kennels and commit to at least one 2 hour shift per month. Must be 16+ and participate in onboarding and training. ARE Animal Rescue Volunteer Form (click here)
- STAT Horse Sanctuary is a place where older horses and farm animals serve as Companion and Therapy animals. There is a Volunteer Orientation that takes place on Saturday mornings, plus a small fee. Click here for more info
- Animal Friends of the Valley offers Dog Walking services and they are always looking for responsible volunteers! Some positions require you to go to the shelter, but many do not! Click here for more info
- The Nuview Library (down the street from NBECHS) may have some openings. Click here for Volunteer Information/Application
