Meet Ms. Hansen

Ms. Keely Hansen has been teaching at Nuview Bridge Early College High School since 2013 as a Spanish teacher and she has many years of experience in education that range from teaching in a Spanish immersion elementary school to teaching AP Spanish Language and Culture. In 2014 she created and piloted the first Spanish 3 class at NBECHS to offer more foreign language educational opportunities to our students. Currently, she teaches Spanish 1, Spanish 2, and Spanish 3 with plans to pilot AP Spanish or other high-level Spanish classes in the future.

Ms. Hansen received her B.A. in Spanish Language and Literature from the University of California, Davis where she also had the opportunity to study abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She received her single-subject teaching credentials in Spanish and English from the University of California, Riverside. She earned her Master of Arts in Teaching Spanish from Rutgers University, the State University of New Jersey. In 2018 Ms. Hansen was chosen as the NBECHS teacher of the year.

Ms. Hansen has been working with the Knightlife School Engagement Program for freshmen since 2020. Currently, she is the coordinator of that program where the focus is supporting students and having fun. She is also the advisor of the NBECHS chapter of the National Honor Society, which is a community service organization that has specific GPA requirements for membership. She is also the advisor of the Arts and Crafts Club this year.

Students have also given Ms. Hansen the nickname “Spansen”, which is a portmanteau of “Spanish” and “Hansen”!
