What is Early College High School?

The Early College Program is a partnership that allows students to dual-enroll in classes at the high school’s partner college in order to receive credit for both the college classes and their equivalent high school classes. The purpose of the Early College Program is to provide the opportunity for academically qualified high school students to complete the Intersegmental General Education Course (IGETC) Certification and transfer to one of the UC or CSU campuses with almost two years worth of transferable college credit, saving thousands of dollars in tuition and valuable time that can be directed toward a career or graduate work. Dedicated students that are purposeful in their class choices have much opportunity to earn a transfer IGETC Certification or an Associate’s Degree, if not both along with their high school diplomas upon graduation.

Originally, partner organizations of the Early College High School Initiative redesigned Nuview Bridge Academy into Nuview Bridge Early College High School, an educational partnership between Nuview Unified School District and Riverside Community College’s Moreno Valley campus (now named Moreno Valley College). Since then, NUSD and NBECHS have expanded the program to include a partnership with Mt. San Jacinto College making the students’ goals to earn an IGETC Certification and/or Associate’s Degree even more attainable.
